THE FORGETTING TREE
by Tatjana Soli
(St. Martin’s, forthcoming)
When Claire comes home to her citrus ranch after a radical mastectomy, she refuses her daughter’s advice to sell her precious orange groves and is determined to keep the ranch going. But she does agree to hire a young woman to look after her.
When Minna, a beautiful black woman, enters Claire’s life, she seems too good to believe. Her real history turns out to be anything but what she claims. Soon Minna begins to take over Claire’s life and the ranch. Minna’s mysterious treatments will ultimately change Claire’s life and help her survive.
Tatjana Soli is the year’s winner of the prestigious James Tait Black Prize presented by the University of Edinburgh for her first novel THE LOTUS EATERS.
